Glycyrrhiza lepidota (American Licorice) This plant has white to pale white flowers in 1-2 inch clusters. Favorite of the American Indians who would dig it up for its sweet flavoring. The root contains 6% glycyrrhizin, which is said to be helpful in the treatment of peptic ulcers & an anti-inflammatory. It is also thought to be good for digestion. Young tender shoots can be eaten raw.
